Steering Committee
for the Plastics axis
At the end of March, the steering committee of the PEPR Plastics axis met at the CEA premises in Grenoble to report on the progress of research work within the axis.
The morning was dedicated to administrative matters, the progress report of the axis and the presentation of future projects selected within the framework of the PEPR AMI, in the presence of the ANR (National Research Agency) and those responsible for scientific tasks.
The afternoon was an opportunity to develop the progress of each part of the axis, which falls within various scientific disciplines, through the work of the young researchers of the project:
- Task 1: Rémi Dagès (INRAE – Toxalim) presented the results of his toxicological analysis of chemical substances present in plastics.
- Task 2: Halame Haouchette (IFP Energies nouvelles) took over with the presentation of his work on PVC recycling, leading to lively collective reflection around these technical questions.
- Task 3: Mathieu Durand (Espaces et Sociétés – ESO) and Sébastien Artous (CEA-Liten) then introduced the work of the researchers working on part 3 of the project, which concerns plastic waste flows and new EPR sectors.
- Task 4: Jeanne Silvestre (Institut Pascal) presented the progress of her research entitled: “Eco-design & recycling of flexible multi-layered polymeric barrier films: Structure-Rheology-Processing properties relationships”, then Adam Hissein Bechibo (INSA Lyon) presented his work on the recycling of multi-layers.
- Task 5: Finally, Sophie Duquesne concluded this tour of the different tasks that make up the Plastics axis, with a presentation of the work relating to catalytic pyrolysis.

This day provided an opportunity to create numerous connections, particularly scientific ones, between the members of the axis, while providing a space for exchange to discuss the future of the program. It was also an opportunity to visit the CEA-Liten Poudr’innov platform, which develops high added-value components from metallic, ceramic, semiconductor, or magnetic powders.
The Plastics axis, co-led by Khalid Lamnawar (National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon – INSA Lyon) and Sophie Duquesne (National School of Chemistry of Lille – ENSCL) aims to develop new concepts to improve the recycling of post-consumer polymer materials and the incorporation of recycled materials into goods and products.
